Hi haven't had the time to blog recently... haha same excuse as when sch is in session hmm but its kinda different. Rem the internship I mentioned that usp was offering to aki students? yupsie never seen b4 and praise God i got the job... haha but not b4 grumbling a lot heh. Ok basically Alexandra Hospital is relocating to Yishun and r building a new hosp there. So i'm interning with their planning dept which essentially liasiases with the architects. When i went for the usp interview... i was like really stressed cos though they were nice but they made the whole job out to be a lot harder and of higher expectations than it turned out to be. For so the next few days i actually hoped the hosp wont call haha how childish huh? but they did the next week when i thought it's been too long they wont call. Well so i went for the "interview" there which wasnt much of one essentially it was to tell me how stuff worked and guess what i started work that day! haha they're really nice actually it's more of a learning experience i think as in they're so enthused in making sure i'm enriched by it i feel like i'm not giving enough bk. that was the 1st week or so when i attended full day meeting with the hosp depts and the architects. I thank God for the rare opportunity and privilege to attend these sessions. I guess compared to those interning in aki firms i dun get to do real practical hands on stuff like learning autocad or photoshop and stuff, i get to see how architects negotiate and deal with clients. from a client's point of view =) yup it's been interesting to say the least plus the hospital grounds are real nice with lots of plants and flowers and trees haha whether at home or at work it's the same scenery and the same music (cicadas and birds and bullfrogs =) so yeah it doesnt feel like a hospital that much. the sports clinic near my office even has this nice exterior spiral staircase. Basically i like the whole colonial bungalow setup - real cosy and quaint - but i guess the whole sprawling grounds and scattered bungalow layout is not exactly conducive for a hosp. which i is why things wd be different in yishun.
yup but the job gets boring at times though when pple get busy and forget i've got nothing to do till they tell me what i am to do! haha but there were some days i got to go out to take photos which is great cos i guess it's one of the good things i do haha at least acc to a tutor of mine =) plus getting outta the office is also refreshing. the thing i've realised is that while working i do sleep more than in termtime but somehow it's mote tiring. I guess cos it's like 1 big chunk of time compared to sch which is broken up into diff parts. But the main culprit is that work starts so early! 830am. compared to sch which so far my earliest class is 9. which is few and far between. essentially for work this means u cant sleep late and u gotta wake up real early. in sch it's like u sleep late and wake up late or no sleep at all haha. sch is far more demanding but i guess it's more interesting cos u've got all yr friends and yr schedule is more flexible. work is more rigid and boring haha i guess cos my collegues are well not exactly young haha but they're real nice though =) oh well but it's a good experience and it forces me to sit down to read aki stuff i otherwise wouldnt have the diligence to haha. So thank God for the discipline there. i need it i guess.
Yup so far things have been pretty interesting. I got to help huien in the decor for k&j's wedding thank God! haha i've always loved flowers and decorating yups so it was a nice privilege =) and fun too. Huien's real good but then again she's a bona fide interior designer and it was great learning from her. aww and those flowers and stuff were so gorgeous. Thank God for His beautiful creation we get to enjoy =) but of cos all that meant we had to do all these after work but it was well worth the effort and time =) and experience. particularly memorable was sitting atop this more than 3m high shaky ladder to detach a light fitting on the ceiling , then tie a loop in the ribbon that held the tulle cloth which was tied on the other end to ceiling suspended loudspeakers at the other side of the room, then attempt to hook that loop to the hook in the light fitting. All without falling down. It was scary and stressful cos i couldnt see the hook for some time. haha but they were all very encouraging. Thanks =) But in the end it was all good and the tulle hung across the ceiling with a nice curve that was beautiful. something different from all the other weddings i helped out at b4.
yups there's more to say but i guess i gotta go soon since there's like work tmr and gotta wake up early =) sigh i wanna watch the world cup! haha poor thing for the french open and possibly wimbledon? tennis will be overshadowed by soccer but oh well. This year has been a bumper crop of sporting events. Winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games, World Cup and Asian Games. I love that haha. One of the few things me and my dad does tog - watch sports on tv =) of which my mum cant understand our enthusiasm haha.
ok i gtg now. Goodnite and blessed sweet dreams =)
