Hi! it's been a real long time since I last posted. My apologies. The usual excuses of an aki student i shall not give =)
Ok basically the last month or so is the traditional time of submissions and submissions. 3 weeks ago production for the design submission started. This time we started 2 weeks in advance. Which translated to a real drawn out affair but thank God it was'nt a rush at the end. And this is the first time I've slept the nite before submission praise the Lord =) yups haha but the nites b4 were well... topsy-turvy =) I stayed over in sch 2 nites on tues and wed... and at was of cos a colourful affair haha aki sch makes for good reality tv =) the weird stuff pple say and do in the wee hours of the morn can be quite spectacular =) some of which are not exactly fit to be repeated haha. And with *ahem* in the same dds, life will never be dull haha. Its a vibrant dds I'm in and basically aki sch feels and looks the same at 3pm and at 3am during submission periods... the same number of pple will be around. Haha i rem what sarah said abt it feeling like a 2nd home of sorts - walking to the co-op is like walking to your HDB shop downstairs =) haha
anyhow thank God for the air-cond... my sympathies to the poor pple in the open studio. So much for asking us "where's your ventilation" during crit but putting us in a building with NO ventilation. ha. how ironic.
As usual submission is fraught with emotional highs and lows. I rem being ultra stressed and in a totally horrid mood towards pple who cant seem to understd the demands of aki sch (no we're not overly hardworking we're just fulfilling what the course entails. no we cant start doing it the nite before and hope to finish starting this isnt arts ok. and on and on) haha ok I've stopped being so bitter so yeah ok i guess it's tough to understd when u're not in it. Nevertheless, I really thank God for the friends I have who try their best to understand my life and not treat me as some weird kiasu person who's doing too much work. Thanks most of all to my dear CG =) esp HJ my leader for being so understding abt it all =) and to min, esther and ser - my dear old MG friends =) and cheryl, gra,steph the AC gals =) ooh btw I met cheryl f that day ... another AC classmate after say like 2 years? wow it's always nice meeting old friends =) nus is big i guess jus opp in law and i dun see her till now... oh btw shd anyone at all frm AH be reading this... mb it's time for a class reunion? since the guys shd have and will be ORDing soon yeah... finally huh =) heh so fast 2 years have gone since JC how old we are =( oh well
anyhow bk to sch again... design submission (which is worth of the equil of 3 modules this time) was on the 7th - last fri... it was the most amazing submission I had ever. 2pm submission. My whole studio (cept for 1 who didnt submit) had all of stuff by 2 and submitted it on time. We were the only studio that did that. Some studios had no one at all. Some a few. Eventually they extended the deadline some hours later and some pple cd only submit the day after. (btw only design has such concessions) My tutor was like so happy abt it =) well all I can say is a big huge thank You to God for all that =) yups first time ever i didnt have to rush majorly at submission (its improving hehe I hope i grades will too =) yup in the end after all the big talk that we were gonna print panels at peace centre on wed, it was pushed to thurs morn. In the end, we all humbly printed in sch (for me it was thru out the whole of thurs) the amazing thing was there wasnt really a crowd thank God! the crowd started in the wee hours of fri. u can send yr print at fri8am and it will be done only at like 6pm? yup that's the length of the queue. This is our 1st digital submission b4 that ti was all hadndrawn (haha somehow that doesnt sound so bad now =)
Anyhow all I can say is that I thank God for putting me in this studio. It's been the one where I've learnt the most and at the most relaxed pace yups I hope the grades are just as nice =)
After that fri it was time to sleep and then time for the SEAsian hist of aki essay. Of which I can tell u lots abt saigon now... vietnumbed haha just joking. but i regret my procrastinating ways or else i cd have slept on wed, cd have rem to do some admin stuff that I forgot argh oh well lesson learnt. So what I am doing now blogging here when I supposed to study?! haha okok
Oh wed was our crit as well for design. had a real practical crit panel (where's yr sheltered car porch? ) haha it was kinda hilarious as u listen to yr fellow studiomates talk themselves out of a tight spot. so aki requires u to be a good lawyer as well to defend yr design in front of a judjing panel like that of project runway. cept that it's project halfway (house) now haha *pun intended*
after crit on wed and essay submission on thurs, my studio had a studio outing. it was the worst case of bad communication. meeting at somerset at 7. i was late so i called my ban zhang who was even later (1 and half hours to be exact) and he told me to call zy who was already at heeren. so i did and we waited there, walked ard the place, outside the place, analysed some buildings(how sad) and talked abt a whole gamut of stuff and then 1 and a half hours later our dear studio rep called to say they have arrived. And when we got there ho and behold... 4 other pple had already been there since 730! hahah so all the time we were wondering where the others all were. Hai jus a call away that's where. Anyhow it was a nice studio dinner at billy bombers cept the food was somewhat overwhelming haha the proportion that is.
Yest i went to sch for the study grp of OneStudio haha (our dream aki firm... we even have everyone's roles already defined =) after 3 sems still going strong =) thank God for them
then it was to Art Friend for portfolio sleeves (once again it's time to drag that weigh-a-ton, cost-a-bomb thing from under the sofa to lug it to sch) it gets heavier each sem with new additions... anyhow we went to wisma to eat at the foodcourt and guess what the Taiwanese band 2moro was to be there! hehe was quite excited. have zilch idea abt what they sing but i rem watching the older twin act in the dancing drama Rainbow Connection. so after lunch at 230 and some shopping ard after that, they appeared ard 315 and it's amazing how close u cd get to them. I think cos not many pple knew and also they are not that estbed names yet. But well I think their looks alone is good enough who cares abt the songs they sing haha... gorgeous eyes once again =) hehe I later found out why they were in town... for the charity show jus a coupla hours back.
Ok i guess i shd go now. tmr's portfolio submission. need to save up the strength to lift it haha. Ok good nite and God bless u all! =)
